Hey

I'm currently using my MAC to write this up.

My PC about 4 days ago went currupted so alot of missing (mainly MP3's, WAV's and audio files) and I dont know how to recover them all.  On top of that my internet for my PC isnt working properly, it says it is recieving signal but when I try to log onto xfire, msn or a net browser it says it can't do it.

I've done a CC scan and cleaned it, an avast scan to get rid / repair any infected files and system restore and it still won't work, my PC I think is currupted since my music is missing and it refuses to let me on the internet

Can anyone help?

Did Avast find anything? Even if not, if you have nasty invaders on your machine Avast is unlikely to sort it out for you.

You really need a suite of programs to root out the worst infections, MajorGeeks.com have a comprehensive system of virus/malware removal using free but powerful software. And if, after following their step-by-step malware removal guide, you still have an infection...they will help you sort it out personally.

I recommend them to anyone.

You may also be able to recover some files, again with the right software and maybe anothyer PC if yours can't be revived.

Of course it may just be your HDD that has failed or failing or some other hardware problem.

I'm sure our resident experts will advise you further.

You need to follow the steps outlined in this guide to the letter, it will take time but don't miss anything out except CC cleaner since you've done that already.

http://forums.majorg...ead.php?t=35407

Links to all the software you need are there.
If there is anything nasty on your system this procedure should find and cure it. Everyone should run this suite of programs once in a while in case you have a rootkit, keylogger or some other shit hiding somewhere. Most commercial antivirus programs do not give 100% protection.

Of course this is assuming it's a malware problem, could be any number of other problems.

If you want to check the hard drive first this should do it I think...

For file recovery the best I've found is this...

You may need to do a deep scan to find and recover your files, but be sure to check the hard drive before doing this.
