As I'm sure quite a few of you who have raced with me are aware, my internet connection is completely bipolar
it goes through stages of just not staying connected, its always on/off but I haven't done anything different to it
I use a wireless dongle for a Netgear WG111v2 router and I'm with AOL (gAyOL to most lol)
I don't think it is AOL because other people in my house dont have the problems
I have thought about it being distance/interference but I can't see how it can be that since it works just fine at other times
Any ideas on how to fix it? I'm close to tearing my hair out
Netgear/Aol

router upgrade, if your wireless, what does the router say on the box regarding signal strength?
i can only assume that it will be saying G or G+, try and upgrade to a router with N or N+ classification (N+ is the highest wireless range at the moment).

Needs is right, and if you think of buying a wireless booster I dont think they work so dont.
Try and put the router up high on a shelf and try and make sure not too many walls are in the way, so place the router near a door instead of near the back of a room.
Maybe try and change the wireless channel as a radio station may be causing interference
Oh and get of AOL and go Sky.

i'm having the same problem with TalkTalk at the moment and AOL is the same company. it will be fine for general browsing but not for gaming. so it could still be your internet.
what is the model number for the router? the number you give is for the dongle. how far from your router is your comp? how long has this problem been going on for? (did it recently start?).
B,G, G+ and N refer to the speed of data transmission (11Mbs, 54Mbs, 108Mbs and 300Mbs) not the signal strength. look for a MIMO router if you're going to upgrade. these routers have more than 1 arial for broadcast and reception (mine has 6). they also don't suffer from shadows as they bounce the signal round things.
