Ive got an old athlon 2600 shuttle box with 512mb memory and 80 gb hdd sitting around doing fook all and i have been trying to get a website up and running on it.I just want to be able to run a forum off it for classic car owners to share advice and stuff.Thing is with the current state of my depression im struggling with even the simpliest of task so basically in the last 2 weeks ive had 3 different os's on it and still haven't got close to having a website up and running on it.

im looking for an idiots guide to getting this heap set up and running as my concerntration span is about 2 mins atm.Hopefully by getting this website up and running it will boost my confidence a bit and give me sumthing that i can use to help my self esteem too.

Right better list the things ive got...... pc as stated before, ive got windows server 2003, xp pro sp3 and ubuntu server edition. Ive got phpbb3 or vbulletin forum packages.Ive got a domain name (www.eccof.co.cc) already.

Any advice or help will be a great help so thanks in advance to neone whos able to help me.

TheLogick (or 'Sneaky' in the FG xfire list), would be your man for this.
He's done the same thing you're trying to.

XAMPP installs all three at once, which is what I use. Very simple program.
I don't know how to forward DNS addresses to a home IP though, so again "LOGICK???"

To get a DNS Name Server it costs from www.dyndns.com or like I do for free get a domain from that site download their software so if your IP changes it changes with the domain then forward your .co.cc domain to the dyndns domain

Get it? lol biggrin.gif

Oh right, so it's the same as what I'm doing with my no-ip stuff?
Hmm... didn't realize it'd be that simple.

Yeah blade no-ip works in the same way this is my set up:

Apache
PHP
SQL
Installed Seperatly but to start out I used WAMP you need to be advanced to install seperatly but its faster than WAMP

DnyDNS subdomain > domain (www.maappers.com)
DynDNS software checks IP every 5 minuites

Presto - Results: www.maappers.com / www.thelogick.game-host.org/sysinfo

Simple smile.gif Any ideas how I can fill the 500gb HDD up? lol
