ATM i have a bodge job because my mic broke so my dad took my old headset mic and put it on my Creative HS-600 earphones but i have noticed that one of the wires is all most cut and i keep gettin no sound in left ear (mic side) so i want a new headset.
im still goin to keep lookin atm but i will be gettin one soon so some more idea's would be great
thanks

razer mics are ok, but theres no real need for any more than a standard desktop mic, but you get feedback from them so you need to get a proper headset, the headset i modelled before is bassy as fook and is better quality than my sony £30 earphones for my ipod

any views on this.
the creative FATAL1TY one can be got in both usb and non usb with a £20 difference in price. i've also been looking at a turtle beach headset. click here
obviously this would take longer to get. i could probabley be able to afford the creative non usb one at the end of next week.
(But it flees in the meantime: irretrievable time flies)

USB VS Audio Jacks....
Here is (from my understanding) the differance ..
USB uses a small sound card to output the sound , this means that the settings for the headset are listed as a seperate device on the computer once plugged in.. (this allows you to make changes to only the head set sound, and run different sounds through the external speakers. think of it as completly seperated from the operating system. )
old style uses the on baord sound card, and all changes to the system apply to both external, and headset speakers.. (although you can use the on baord sound cards drivers to make some changes to each audio plug port, and where the sound is pumped out too )
the turtle beach head set uses the usb side for driving the speakers, and, but uses the on board sound card for the output..

yea, the only problem i have with usb headsets is you cannot hear any game sounds with the headset on, unless you assign them, of which its pointless having a soundcard at all, so just save yourself £20 and get jacks

i like the turtle beach headset as it comes with a spliter so i can have my speakers and the headset plugged into the back of my comp at the same time and not have to keep swaping the plugs over.

you should be able to remove the splitter, check to see if your mobo sound card drivers are installed , and you can pick jack by jack , what each output does on the mobo .. like mine i got 6 audio jack holes, i can make anyone of them a mic or speaker.. so i control the sounds comming out of the back to each jack.. but my depend on the mobo and its onbaord sound card ability's

i might have to look into that.
edit. i looked into it and yes i can assign what comes out of each jack plug. think i may aswell get the fatal1ty one then. £22 from amazon. order going in soon
